This is virtually unknown territory for me. I have almost no experience of organ music other than a few famous odds and ends. Buxtehude to me is only a name which crops up in biographies of Bach. And by knowledge of Baroque music is rather sketchy once you get beyond the few really major figures. So I had little by way of terms of reference to go on when I listened to this short selection of Buxtehude's organ music. Perhaps for that reason it left very little impression on me. There was nothing wrong with it of course but I couldn't find a way into it. The longer pieces did seem quite clunky and rather abrupt in the way that they went from one idea to another. So I don't think that I will be returning to this repertoire any time soon.
